Aligning Dahej Industrial Association (DIA)’s Vision

About Dahej Industrial Association

Dahej Industrial Association (DIA) is a prominent industry-led body representing the interests of industrial stakeholders operating in the Dahej Petroleum, Chemicals, and Petrochemicals Investment Region (PCPIR). It plays a pivotal role in facilitating industrial development, infrastructure coordination, and policy advocacy for companies in this specialized industrial zone. DIA is instrumental in fostering a conducive environment for industries, promoting growth, and addressing common challenges within one of India’s most significant industrial hubs.

Industry: Industrial Development & Infrastructure (specifically for Petroleum, Chemical, and Petrochemical sectors)

Headquarter: Dahej, Bharuch District, Gujarat, India

Problem Statement

The Dahej Industrial Association, as India’s largest PCPIR, embarked on “Utkarsh,” a visionary initiative to transform Dahej into India’s model industrial estate by 2035, necessitating a structured approach to identify challenges, define strategic goals, and align stakeholders for this ambitious transformation.

Intervention by My Sarthi Training

My Sarthi Training facilitated a comprehensive visioning exercise and strategic planning intervention for the Dahej Industrial Association, designed to equip them with a clear roadmap and collaborative framework for their “Utkarsh” initiative:

Step 1: Initial meeting with the President of DIA

My Sarthi Training began by engaging in detailed discussions with the President of the Dahej Industrial Association. The objective was to gain an in-depth understanding of the current problems, inherent challenges, and available resources within the DIA, setting the foundation for a tailored consulting intervention.

Step 2: Design thinking workshop

A dynamic Design Thinking workshop was organized, bringing together all office bearers of DIA, top heads of reputed industries within the PCPIR, and representatives from relevant government departments. This collaborative environment was crucial for fostering shared understanding and innovative problem-solving among key stakeholders like, Plant Heads and HR Heads, in industrial development.

Step 3: Identifying stakeholders and their challenges

My Sarthi Training conducted a detailed assessment to systematically identify all key stakeholders involved in the Dahej industrial ecosystem and meticulously documented their specific challenges within the industrial estate. This provided a holistic view of the complex issues affecting the region’s growth.

Step 4: SWOT Analysis of DIA

A comprehensive SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) analysis was performed. This strategic assessment provided a clear understanding of DIA’s current competitive position in the industrial landscape, highlighting internal capabilities and external factors influencing its future.

Step 5: Defining activities and goals

Based on the analysis, My Sarthi Training facilitated the outlining of a clear group of actionable activities and strategic initiatives. These were meticulously defined with specific goals, all geared towards the execution of DIA’s overarching vision of becoming a model industrial estate.

Step 6: Benchmarking against global standards

My Sarthi Training guided DIA through a rigorous benchmarking exercise, comparing Dahej Industrial Association against some of the world’s best industrial estates. This process was vital for identifying areas for improvement, pinpointing gaps, and adopting proven best practices in industrial park management.

Step 7: Defining standards for DIA

Clear and measurable standards were established for DIA. These standards were precisely aligned with global industrial estate norms and international best practices, designed to drive operational excellence, sustainability, and service quality within the Dahej PCPIR.

Step 8: Alignment with National Policy (PCPIR 2020-35)

My Sarthi Training ensured the strategic alignment of DIA’s newly defined strategies and initiatives with the National Policy for PCPIR (2020-35). This crucial step enabled DIA to leverage potential government support, access resources, and adhere to broader national development plans, enhancing its long-term viability and growth prospects.

Step 9: Identified signature project

As a capstone, a signature project for DIA was identified and defined. This flagship initiative is intended to powerfully showcase DIA’s vision and capabilities, serving as a concrete demonstration of their commitment and progress towards becoming India’s model industrial estate by 2035.

Key Outcomes & Impact

My Sarthi Training’s intervention provided the Dahej Industrial Association with a robust framework and clear direction for its “Utkarsh” vision, leading to several significant outcomes:
